The Southampton Youth Bureau’s Wednesday Night Teen Nights at Ludlam Park are back! Teens in grades 7 -12 are invited to hang out and participate in numerous activities which include basketball, soccer, baseball, games, crafts, free food, DJ/live music, and more! In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved indoors at The Drop Spot, 655 Flanders Road. The fun begins Wednesdays, June 27th – August 29th from 7:30pm – 11:00pm. Youth in grades 5 - 12 are invited to have fun swimming, playing sports, video games, air hockey & much more at the SYS Recreation Center, 1370a Majors Path beginning Thursday, July 5th and ending on Thursday, August 23rd. The pool is open on Thursdays from 5:00pm – 8:00pm and round-trip transportation is available for $2 from the Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Rd. The Southampton Youth Bureau & Rise Above Social Issues Foundation Inc will be sponsoring a free 'Comic Extravaganza' open to all ages on Saturday, August 25th at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Ave. Come on out from 11:30am to 4:00pm and wear your best costume - Prizes will be awarded! Merchandise will be available to purchase from artists & vendors. Graphic novel artwork will also be on display. If you are a local youth and would like to display your artwork, please contact the Southampton Youth Bureau by Friday, August 17th. Weather permitting; children will also be transported to SYS Recreation Center, 1370a Majors Path in Southampton to use the outdoor swimming pool and game room. The Southampton Youth Bureau’s Chess Club will be held every Tuesday from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Rd beginning June 26th and ending on August 28th. Chess teaches youth how to manage skills, control impulses, delay gratification, and reduce stress. Learning chess can help build self confidence, gain a sense of community, and learn fair play.
